- Well, it's possible for some cross-talk between the linear audio
- tracks and the helical video tracks, but I doubt it.
- I'd expect more trouble from using the RF out of the VCR rather
- than the line outs. (My old B/W tv buzzes when a white screen comes
- on, for example).
-
- But the hi-fi helical tracks are recorded side-by-side/underneath
- the video helical tracks. Ain't to big a thing for recording,
- I suppose, but VCR's try hard to find and stick to the timing
- pulses in the video signal on *playback*, and if those
- pulses are missing, lord knows what it might do in terms of
- stable playback.
-
- Then again, some VCR's may not record hi-fi at all if there's
- no video to record it with. I dunno.
-
- Home VCRs seem to be fairly generous in terms of dealing with
- bad/unusual recordings, however.
-
- I still recommend recording some video source on any video tape.
- Otherwise you might confuse your VCR on playback.
