- Well, I'm no expert on consumer equipment, but:
-
- -An audio casette records at somrthing like 2 inches per second.
- -A video tape (at *SP* speed) records linear audio at
- something like 8 inches per second.
- -A video tape (at *SP* speed) records hi-fi audio at
- (virtually) 200 inches per second.
-
- I suppose, if the logic holds, hi-fi audio at *SLP* (or EP)
- speed is recorded at virtually 67 inches/second.
- So, Hi-Fi is obviously higher quality, even at SLP.
-
- But, please note, Hi-fi audio is recorded *underneath*
- the video signal. SO, just to be sure,
- Always record hi-fi audio along with some video signal.
- I've no idea if it would work without a video signal.

-
- Tracking, I believe, is an adjustment to align your video
- heads to the video tracks. If you have snow on your picture,
- it may be because the heads aren't scanning the video tracks
- in their entirty. So, if you use the tracking adjustment to
- align the heads closer to the tracks, you may eliminate the snow.
