  11. I just snarfed a pair of Bose 4.2s from a high-tech
  12. supermarket (Silo; yet another Circuit-City-alike) for
  13. $260 (they list $320; Bose changed at least the external
  14. styling for '93 so I got lucky by walking in early on the
  15. Saturday of the clearance sale and being loaded for bear (I
  16. was hunting the elusive DCC)).

  18. They sound pretty good, but could I do better with the
  19. same $260?

  21. I have seven days (now four) to decide whether to return
  22. them no-questions-asked.  I don't have the proper equipment
  23. (they pull 75Wper and my stereo that works pumps 12...my TV
  24. drives them about 25...) to work them over.  I can return
  25. them later if they prove defective at full power, but even
  26. then I might decide they sound crappy, but I can't tell yet.

  28. So, did I get a deal?  Does anyone consider these the basis
  29. for a long relationship, or will I be relegating them to
  30. stereo-surround duty in just a few years? (They aren't big;
  31. they'd fit on a bookshelf but take about three feet of it.)

  33. Does anyone have specs?  The sales critters could only find
  34. the book on the newer model, and it didn't show any frequency
  35. response curves.
