- Auto-tracking is a convenience mostly, but for some poorer tapes, esp.
- rented ones, it can be a requirement. Usually it just saves you the hassle
- of having to adjust the tracking knob yourself on tapes that are slightly
- off-track with your VCR's normal setting.

- As for the Sony Hi-Fi not having index search, I find that VERY hard
- to believe. It is almost definitely there on a Sony Hi-Fi VCR.
