  21.     Auto-tracking is a convenience mostly, but for some poorer tapes, esp.
  22. rented ones, it can be a requirement.  Usually it just saves you the hassle
  23. of having to adjust the tracking knob yourself on tapes that are slightly
  24. off-track with your VCR's normal setting.

  26.     As for the Sony Hi-Fi not having index search, I find that VERY hard
  27. to believe.  It is almost definitely there on a Sony Hi-Fi VCR.
