  11. Well, as the title says, I'm looking for speakers in the $ 600 - $700 
  12. range.  The type of music that I listen to is mostly rock such as
  13. Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Supertramp etc. I also enjoy blues and soul very
  14. much and I'm trying to get to know that type of music better.  Also, since
  15. these speakers are going to be an integral part of my living room, which 
  16. consists of mostly modern furniture, I'm looking for floor standing, black
  17. speakers.  I guess smaller speakers with stands would be OK, but I definitely
  18. don't want oak or wood grain speakers (my fiancee would kill me :-) ).

  20. Anyhow, up to now I've listened to the following:

  22. Boston Acoustics t930
  23. DCM TF600
  24. MB Quart Three's
  25. Infinity Reference 5
  26. NHT 1.8
  27. Celestion 15

  29. Unfortunately, all of these were in different audio stores and show rooms,
  30. so I couldn't AB any of them. I liked the NHT's a lot. I was surprised that
  31. they had such powerful bass.  However all the other ones sounded good too.
  32. The DCM's had a very pleasing overall sound, the Boston Acoustics seemed 
  33. very smooth.  I wasn't too impressed wit the Infinity's though.

  35. Any comments? Any other brands I should look into? Right now, as it stands,
  36. I would by the NHT's. Are they  good speakers? Please let me know, and I'll
  37. post the answers if there is demand for it.
