- Hi guys,
- I'd like to get some help from you folks out there.
- First of all, let me describe to you what equipment I've got ...
-
- - Carver pre-amp with dolby pro-logic
- - Carver 100W power amp
- - Carver CD changer.
- - A pair of Acoustic Research M5 (not M.5) tower speakers.
-
- The above setup sounds quite diasppointing (Please don't flame
- Carver, AR, or my ability to choose components). All I hear is BASS!!
- The high and mid-range are basically not present (slight exaggeration
- here). Can you guys think of anything that I'm doing wrong? Have I
- just basically chosen a load of crappy equipments? I liked the Carvers
- and the AR speakers sounded pretty good in the HIFI shop.
- Now I wanna get three more speakers to enable surround sound.
- Should I get more ARs (I was told that it's better to have the same
- surround speakers as the main ones)? I really want to have surround
- sound but I can't justify spending more money on a system that I am
- not satisfied with :(. What can I do to remedy this situation (other
- than throwing away my existing system)? Any comments will be appreciated!!
-
- Thanks,
-
- Henry.
