  21.     The "index" function was originally meant to be on all CD players, 
  22. as I am to understand it. The main purpose was convinience on long tracks. 
  23. There are some works of music which are long and continious, some 
  24. symphanies, etc. Instead of breaking these into seperate tracks, they were 
  25. supposed to be indexed by the movements. That is: Tracks are for seperate 
  26. peices of music or songs, and Indexes were for movements within a single 
  27. piece.    However, very very few CD's were ever made with indexing. My father 
  28. owns an older Denon with the index feature. I believe he only has one CD 
  29. with indexing.

  31.     So now, if you have a long track (10-70 min), and if you want to 
  32. listen to only part of it, you have to fast forward it, instead of just 
  33. skipping indexes. I have found that on my CD players, ( both Denon's) that I 
  34. can 'pause' it first, then the fast forward in inaudable, but about four 
  35. times as fast.

  40. CD's are beyond me.
