- All,
- I have now listened to the accuton 211 and 277 drivers (midrange
- and tweeter). I was VERY impressed.
-
- I am thinking of designing and implementing the following systems
- and would like your opinions on the various design philosophies.
-
- 1. 211 tweet, 277 mid, and Eton 11" short throw woofer in large
- (4 cubic foot plus) enclosure. Lots of bass extension, but I'm not
- sure if it will image all that well with such a large enclosure.
- I'm also pretty confident that the eton 11" will go up the 400hz xover point.
-
- 2. 211 tweet, 277 mid, and Eton 8" long throw in high but narrow cabinet.
- This will be physically less obtrusive with about 10hz less in bass
- extension. I think it may image better, and the 8" woofer may be quicker
- and mate better with the accutons.
-
- 3. New accuton low resonant freq tweeter (2000hz) and eton 7" or 8"
- std. woofer. PLUS Tekton 18" subwoofer for low, and I mean low
- bass extension. Small box, Imaging should be superb, but I am
- concerned over overall system balance.
-
- I am basing all these designs around a $1000-$1500 price goal.
-
- I have heard the std aria 3 with 211, 277 and focal 415s woofer.
- I thought the tweeter mid interface was superb, but the focal woofer
- didn't do it for me. I also heard the 211 and 277 with cabasse woofer.
- This also didn't do it for me. It seems these drivers are very
- hard to mate with a woofer. This is why I am leaning towards
- the etons. They are expensive, but fast, and should mate
- well with the accutons.
