- The fault is with the CDs, not the player. Don't mess with the lens
- or you'll endanger your CD player.
-
- I have experienced similar problems. It has either been smudges or
- scratches on the CDs. Cleaning of CDs must be done properly - strokes
- should be radially outward. I have used plain old dishwashing liquid
- with warm - not hot - water. I allow them to dry in a rack. or use
- a soft, slightly damp paper towel, with RADIAL strokes. Whn that hasn't
- worked, I try another player. If it works, make a tape copy.
-
- Different players have different processes. I have an old Panasonic
- portable player which now sits in my video editing room. I have a Sony
- CDP-ES(?) 5-disc change in my living room and a Sony CarDsicman D802K
- to carry around. The Panasonic (circa 1985) is the most finicky. The
- changer (1988) is much better in handling scratched discs. The Car
- Discman is the winner and will handle major scratches when the CDP-ES
- won't.
