  19. with the question of "what are the risks of getting caught?"

  21. The fact that these groups are almost nothing but copyright violation after
  22. copyright violation doesn't cause anybody here to think, "out of respect for
  23. the creators of this information, perhaps we shouldn't be forwarding it?"

  29. I guess it is fortunate with this attitude that the penalties for getting
  30. caught are real.  Event Horizons BBS, which sold subscriptions and had
  31. lots of GIFs scanned from Playboy was sued by Playboy.  The report was they
  32. settled out of court for half a million dollars.

  34. I can't advise any site to carry any newsgroup that contains and indeed
  35. promotes significant traffic in pirated material.
