- The original poster was asking about the cheapest insurance. It's pretty
- much the same for the compulsery, but you have to decide how much additional
- liability and property damage you need. Not an easy task.

- The one thing you can do to keep your costs down is to never get a speeding
- (or other moving violation, e.g. inspection sticker expired, traffic light,
- stop sign) ticket! Learn how the Massachusetts SDIP (Safe Driver Insurance
- Program) works. For example, a speeding ticket at 82 MPH on the highway will
- cost you $220 up front, loss of your $150 discount, and maybe surcharges for
- the next three years. It gets worse after a second ticket.

- Aside from the fixed costs that you can't avoid, there are some significant
- costs (surcharges, fines) that can be avoided. This is where the big savings
- are!
