  17. That's true and not true.  I had Travelers for an insurance
  18. company a while back with a seperate insurance agent.  I called
  19. several times because the coverage on my car was equal to
  20. that of my friends cars, yet I was getting charged $300-400
  21. more than them and my car was 3-5 years older!  It turned 
  22. out (after I did some checking with other insurance companies)
  23. that I was getting screwed by the agent (and by Travelers
  24. since my bills were coming straight from them!). My rates
  25. were higher because the agent had fees which got tacked 
  26. on to my rates.  I would pay Travelers direct and they 
  27. would obviously send money back to the agent.  Everytime
  28. I called the agent on this, the response would be "Oh, no
  29. Sir.  You must be mistaken.  Insurance rates are regulated
  30. in MA.  We can't charge more than the other guy."  It 
  31. wasn't until I told them I was switching and why AND told
  32. them what my new rates were, that they finally admitted
  33. (sort of) that there was a difference in rates.
