- Iowa is to writers what Juliard is to musicians. I imagine the competition
- in terms of admission is pretty stiff. The only criticism I ever heard
- of Iowa was that they encourage their students to write "confessional"
- stories, which I guess is okay for mainstream fiction. Since that is what
- I write, I guess it's okay with me.
