  18.     I can't agree with this more.  I agree with the remark you 
  19.     made about prepared childbirth classes not preparing you 
  20.     enough for C-sections.  Ours spent so much time trying to 
  21.     tell you that a vaginal birth was "better" that we were 
  22.     relatively unprepared for a C-section.  It also ignored 
  23.     the fact that people have different pain tolerances (wife:
  24.     none whatsoever, her mom: Joan of Arc), which made my 
  25.     wife incredibly bummed out that she wanted an epidural.

  27.     Anyway, best thing to do when you go through childbirth
  28.     education is to treat anything positive with a large grain
  29.     of salt.  Assume that you will a.) have a C-section, b.) that
  30.     the epidural will not work, and c.) "bonding" time that you 
  31.     want won't happen the way you expect.  According to my wife,
  32.     the pain becomes a memory after a few months -- you're pretty
  33.     busy and don't have time to remember much about the delivery.

  37.     Congrats.  Enjoy the first year.  There will never be another
  38.     time like this.  After they get mobile and start talking, there
  39.     is a relatively linear evolution forward to adulthood.  But the 
  40.     stuff that happens in the first year now seems like an incredibly
  41.     special time.
