  29. The problem is that MANY of us, who are interested in this subject, cannot
  30. get access to alt.* groups.  The original proposal was put forward in an
  31. attempt to create a group that we CAN access.

  33. There has been a mailing list on the subject of adoption that has been going
  34. for over a year(?) and has LOTS of traffic.  So there is plenty of proven
  35. interest in the subject.  The thought was to open up the discussion that has
  36. been going on over that mailing list to the entire net.  I like this idea.

  38. My vote: YES to a net group on adoption, with the charter as specified.

  40. As to what that group should be named, I don't know what the "standard" would
  41. say, but IMHO it should have the following characteristics:

  43.   - very widely accessible (certainly more so that alt.*)
  44.  
  45.   - probably NOT as a sub-group of misc.kids, since many interested people
  46.     are not also interested in children, per say -- they are adoptees, birth
  47.     parents who are not raising kids, people thinking about adoption who are
  48.     not yet involved in raising kids, professionals involved with adoptions,
  49.     etc.
