- The problem is that MANY of us, who are interested in this subject, cannot
- get access to alt.* groups. The original proposal was put forward in an
- attempt to create a group that we CAN access.
-
- There has been a mailing list on the subject of adoption that has been going
- for over a year(?) and has LOTS of traffic. So there is plenty of proven
- interest in the subject. The thought was to open up the discussion that has
- been going on over that mailing list to the entire net. I like this idea.
-
- My vote: YES to a net group on adoption, with the charter as specified.
-
- As to what that group should be named, I don't know what the "standard" would
- say, but IMHO it should have the following characteristics:
-
- - very widely accessible (certainly more so that alt.*)
-
- - probably NOT as a sub-group of misc.kids, since many interested people
- are not also interested in children, per say -- they are adoptees, birth
- parents who are not raising kids, people thinking about adoption who are
- not yet involved in raising kids, professionals involved with adoptions,
- etc.
