- Marilyn and Skip Walker are THRILLED to announce the birth of:
-
- Daniel Denali Walker
- 10 November 1992
- 7 lbs, 2.5 ozs
- 9 and 9 apgars
-
- He was named after a close friend who also happened to be the OB who
- delivered him. Denali is an Athabascan word meaning "The Great One" and is
- also the name of the highest peak in North America (formerly known as Mt.
- Mckinley).
-
- Although he was 12 days early, I had been saying for about a week that I
- thought he might come that day, due to a full moon and prediction of snow!
- Water broke at 3:50 am, labor began at 5 am. We went to the hospital at
- 9:30 with easy contractions coming 3 minutes apart. I was 90% effaced and
- 3 cm, so we spent the morning walking around a nearby park and even having
- some visitors. Hard work began in the afternoon, and about 7:30 PM I began
- pushing him into the world. I am now a great believer in the Bradley method,
- as he came with both of us fully alert. It was wonderful to be conscious
- and cognizant during my labor, discussing what was happening between
- contractions and concentrating during them. My husband had been somewhat
- concerned about his coaching abilities, but he was the greatest and was
- absolutely thrilled about it all.
