  12. Marilyn and Skip Walker are THRILLED to announce the birth of:

  14. Daniel Denali Walker
  15. 10 November 1992
  16. 7 lbs, 2.5 ozs
  17. 9 and 9 apgars 
  18.  
  19. He was named after a close friend who also happened to be the OB who
  20. delivered him.  Denali is an Athabascan word meaning "The Great One" and is
  21. also the name of the highest peak in North America (formerly known as Mt.
  22. Mckinley).

  24. Although he was 12 days early, I had been saying for about a week that I
  25. thought he might come that day, due to a full moon and prediction of snow!
  26. Water broke at 3:50 am, labor began at 5 am.  We went to the hospital at
  27. 9:30 with easy contractions coming 3 minutes apart.  I was 90% effaced and
  28. 3 cm, so we spent the morning walking around a nearby park and even having
  29. some visitors.  Hard work began in the afternoon, and about 7:30 PM I began
  30. pushing him into the world.  I am now a great believer in the Bradley method,
  31. as he came with both of us fully alert.  It was wonderful to be conscious
  32. and cognizant during my labor, discussing what was happening between
  33. contractions and concentrating during them.  My husband had been somewhat
  34. concerned about his coaching abilities, but he was the greatest and was
  35. absolutely thrilled about it all.
