- I am the Asst. Chief of a small (30 member) all volunteer
- department. I was wondering if any other volunteer departments have
- requirements for both physical fitness and drug testing and how each one
- is implemented and enforced.
-
- My town's VFD requires a physical fitness test (during the
- pre-admittance investigation) but no durg/blood test(s). The physical
- fitness test was authored by the NJ State Fireman's Relief Association,
- I'm pretty sure, and passed the legal points, so it wasn't biased. IMHO,
- before the VFDs could do drug testing the PDs and town Council would
- have to be able to pass the test. <G> If they required us to pass,
- they'd have to pass also! (NO I'm not making ANY accusations)
