  12.         I am the Asst. Chief of a small (30 member) all volunteer
  13. department.  I was wondering if any other volunteer departments have
  14. requirements for both physical fitness and drug testing and how each one
  15. is implemented and enforced.

  17. My town's VFD requires a physical fitness test (during the
  18. pre-admittance investigation) but no durg/blood test(s).  The physical
  19. fitness test was authored by the NJ State Fireman's Relief Association,
  20. I'm pretty sure, and passed the legal points, so it wasn't biased. IMHO,
  21. before the VFDs could do drug testing the PDs and town Council would
  22. have to be able to pass the test. <G> If they required us to pass,
  23. they'd have to pass also! (NO I'm not making ANY accusations)
