- Hi steve, nice to hear from you again. Firstly we do recieve the 17.5%
- loading in a roundabout sort of way and we dont know if we will have our
- pay reduced at all at this stage. There are other changes that are
- likely to have a much greater effect in the long run, being Workcare
- changes (could lead to footpath firefighting), Increased hours to 56hrs
-
- per week (24 hr shifts ?) and major reductions in manning. These areas
- that I have mentioned may not be effected in the end, but only time will
-
- tell. NOTE THIS IS ONLY MY ENTERPRETATION OF WHAT MAY HAPPEN.
- The tracing of 000 calls is already underway. This is mainly done by the
- Telecom operator, though we will soon have the ability to do it
- ourselves,New tecnology introduced by telecom when they computerised the
- exchanges does mean that Caller Line Identifaction CLI as it is called
- will soon be routine. The hardware has been installed in our Comm Centre
- but I am unsure if its up and running yet. Recently I have requested CLI
- information on returning from a Malicious False Alarm and the
- information WAS made available to me. No doubt the prosecutions will
- start soon!
- there are a number of other interesting things happening down here and
- when I've got some time I will send you a longer note. Regards David.
