- WJV||I kinda agree with Kevin...More training is required than Red Cross
- AFA. I
- ||suggest you check with the First Aid/Rescue Squad where you are.
- Most
- ||states/localities require the AFA prior to joining and the
- Emergency Medic
- ||Technician-Ambulance (EMT-A) certificate obtained within the first
- year. W
- ||that's New Jersey anyway. Different areas are different. Federal
- regulatio
- ||mandate the EMT training (Federally recognized EMT training). In
- the 23+
-
- Bill,
-
- I must take exception to this statement.. Neither the state or any
- localities in NJ Have any requirements for level of training
- (Unfortunately). Most squads set there own and the are some that
- require
- only CPR and Standard First Aid. As ridiculous as this sounds, it is
- true, I left one Volunteer organization over just such a policy.
-
- OEMS has yet to make any regulations at all governing Volunteer
- organizations. (Also Unfortunate)
-
- The only ones who have taken a stand that I ma aware of is the NJ First
- Aid Council. I believe they advocate a minimum of EMT-A. They however,
- have no enforcement authority.
