- JM>Thankyou, This is what I was wondering. Not so much the lights, but
- what do

-
- You are probably best off to check your local laws and department
- policies regarding this type of POV operation. My personal opinion is
- that you should operate any emergency vehicle in the safest possible
- manner keeping in mind the nature of the response; ie. don't try and
- cross an eight lane highway against a red light for a garbage can fire!
- If a "lights and siren" response is not neccessary don't use them.
- I've
- seen to many ambulances or fire trucks abuse the use of warning
- devices.
- When an ambulance is on a routine transport and uses all its lights it
- is abusing a privilege. Even if the emergency vehicle sits at a red
- light with all its lights on, waiting for the green, it is wrong. The
- cross traffic doesn't know what to do; does this vehicle want to cross
- or not? Is it worth your life or someone elses if a mistake is made?
