- Alkaline batteries are best stored in cold; you can refrigerate them, or freeze
- them. Batteries work -- and lose their charge -- via chemical reactions, which
- are slowed down by the cold. Hey, it's always worked for me. And no, they
- don't burst when frozen -- not in the 10 years I've been doing it.
