- What is a "homosexual slur"?

-
- Amazingly enough, you still haven't answered the question: what did you
- mean by the self-discipline remark? If you don't want to answer, fair
- enough.
-
- And no, I don't care to discuss the "rights or wrongs of homosexuality,"
- which incidentally was NOT the origin of the thread. As I recall, the
- thread originated when Leah asked for opinions on Bud Cramer's stand
- (or lack thereof) on affording civil rights to gays and lesbians.
-
- The proposition I was (and am) advancing is that rights should be
- afforded equally, as I hold that people have rights unconditionally,
- by birthright. This is completely inconsistent with your position
- (from another posting) that rights are a privilege. If I read you
- correctly, you are saying that gay people do not deserve the same
- rights as hets because you feel that homosexuality is morally wrong,
- so it follows that rights given to heterosexuals amount to rewards
- for "correct" behaviour.
-
- I submit that we need to move beyond this reward/punishment mentality
- and learn to live with our differences.
