- I hate to post something of general interest on this BBS, but does
- anyone else think that those arrows on I-565 are a little stupid?
-
- More specifically, the reflectors that outline the arrows are stupid.
- The reflectors are spaced about 1' apart and look like the following:
-
- ____________________
- reflecting / \
- surface ----> / \
- ________________/________________________\___________road surface___
-
- Direction of travel ---->
-
- Now, I haven't gone out and measured these things, but they appear to
- be about 1-1.5" high and about 5-6" from front to back.
-
- On the heavily traveled parts (like the Eastbound Exit to Rideout) some
- of the arrows now no longer REFLECT to alert me of the impending exit.
- The eight thousand or so of the arrows that were placed at the above
- mentioned exit only serve to annoy, now that they are DARK. All of the
- reflectors will probably be dark in a few years (since it has only been
- a couple of years since the reflectors were placed) leaving us with only
- a wonderful little noise upon entering/leaving the highway.
