- ***STAY WAY THE HELL AWAY*** from Bell Electronics on Pulaski Pike !!
- I took my VCR on a Saturday, and after repeatedly calling and
- not hearing a status report or anything, I went back two weeks
- later unannounced to find that they had supposedly already
- "fixed" the problem. However, they failed to contact me first
- and ask for authorization for the $55 they charged me ( there's
- a $25 evaluation fee if you don't let them "fix" it for you ).
-
- I tried it out in the shop, while I was waiting about an hour
- for the manager to come back. Apparently, he was away on a call,
- and the shop was left in the hands of some guy who apparently didn't
- have a real function there except to tell people to wait around for
- the other guy. Anyway, after returning, the manager guy took the
- ticket and scrawled a few lines about what the technician had supposedly
- done to "fix" the VCR. Since it worked for the 30 minutes or so that
- I fooled with it there, I paid the $55 and took it home. It promptly
- repeated the problem less than a week later. Oh yeah, the joint
- screams "unprofessional" the moment you walk in -- I should have known
- better than to leave it there in the first place.
-
- Then, I took it to Sound Distributors on University Drive. They
- have a $10 evaluation fee ( if you don't get it fixed there ). These
- people were very professional. Less than a week later, they called
- and told me it would cost $40+ for parts and $55 for labor, which
- I declined, since it's a 5 year old VCR. They at least seemed to
- know what they were doing, unlike the Bell rathole.
-
- A co-worker has also had a bad experience with Bell Electronics;
- they had his VCR there for several months without even examining it.
