- The answer to the above turned out to be "very little." A number of kind
- helpful souls suggested -fpcc-struct-return and -traditional. Neither of
- these was enough to get the two troublesome applications to compile
- correctly. The two apps were xfractint and an ftp client with readline
- support. Neither would operate correctly with 1.42. I spent a few hours
- last night and this morning compiling and installing the C part of GCC 2.3.1
- and am happy to report that both apps compile without a hitch.
-
- I have been reading the bug reports in g.g.bugs and was somewhat afraid of
- them, that was why I installed 1.42, which was characterized as a stable
- finished product rather than alpha or beta. I still wonder what good 1.42
- is on SPARC? How fast do bug fixes come out on GCC? Should I stay with
- 2.3.1 or should I backgrade to 2.2.2?
