- I just installed a new release of mach 3.0, and when I did, I could no
- longer do 'su' from the gnuemacs shell. It never gives me a chance
- to type in my password. It simply says 'Stopped (tty output)'.
- Of course, it doesn't let me become superuser. I have no trouble
- 'su'ing outside of gnuemacs. Before I upgraded the operating system,
- I had no trouble 'su'ing from within the gnuemacs shell.
-
- Occasionally, (and I don't know what I do differently to cause this),
- I get as far as 'Password:', but it never gives me a chance to type anything
- in. It immediately says 'Sorry'.
-
- I've looked at my /etc/termcap, /etc/ttys, .stty, .bindings, .emacs,
- and I just don't know what else to examine. A colleague of mine has
- no trouble with the same release of mach, so it must be some file I
- have that is messed up. I just don't know what files to look at and
- what to look for.
