- frequently i get a "Memory Exhausted" message, after which most
- commands, including ^X^C and sometimes ^Z, are useless. this occurs
- when editing large files or uncompressing files as small as 2.5MB,
- even when no other processes are running (although it is worse when
- other processes are running).
-
- the configuration is gnu emacs 18.58 with allegro extensions on a
- sparc 2 with 40MB physical memory.
-
- can emacs be fixed to have it be useful when this happens? do emacs
- 19 or lucid emacs provide a solution? (does lemacs work on ascii
- terminals yet?) would increasing swap help?
-
- thanks. could you please respond by email if you can? i don't read
- these newsgroups.
