  14. The College of Engineering Academic Computing Program of the
  15. University of Maryland at College Park is searching for two Unix
  16. support persons to provide systems programming and systems management
  17. support for Project Glue, a College of Engineering venture, to
  18. develop a multiple-architecture operating systems support
  19. environment.   Currently, Project Glue operates approximately 500
  20. networked Unix workstations and 300 additional non-Unix hosts (IBM
  21. PC, Apple Macintosh).

  23. Responsibilities for the position of systems programmer include: i)
  24. In cooperation with the Project Manager and other Project staff,
  25. assist in the development of operating systems releases, system
  26. management tools and other systems programming responsibilities,
  27. including integration of public domain software such as Athena; ii)
  28. provide supervision to student programming staff and general systems
  29. programming and other resposnsibilities as assigned.

  31. For the second position, responsibilities include: i) In cooperation
  32. with the Project Manager and other Project staff, provide
  33. systems/accounts management support; ii) serve as a technical point
  34. of contact for Unix systems software for the Engineering College
  35. faculty and staff.

  37. Both positions, renewable annually, will be offered a University
  38. title of 'Faculty Research Assistant' and will report to the Project
  39. Manager.  To be eligible, the incumbent i) must hold a bachelors'
  40. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related science; ii)
  41. demonstrate ability in Unix systems programming and Unix systems
  42. management.  Specific skills for the position of systems programming
  43. include knowedge of C, Unix shell programming languages, Unix
  44. Internals; for the postion of systems management, experience in
  45. management of NFS, Unix mail, TCP/IP network software systems.
  46. Ability to communicate with faculty and administrators.

  48. Annual salary range: $26,000 - $32,000, negotiable, commensurate with
  49. experience.  Benefits include University contribution to health
  50. insurance, tution remission for self and dependents, opportunity for
  51. study towards advanced degree, 22 days working annual leave, 15 paid
  52. holidays, and 15 days sick leave.  To be considered for this
