- What about the prices? I'd be interested to find someplace which was
- affordable and didn't offer insultingly small portions.
-
- I tried Le Rivage (1000 Water Street, SW) the other night. Good food,
- fair prices, fine service. Entrees ran $13-$18, appetizers about $3-6.
- Unfortunately, wines were $20 and up, and the Benedictine clocked in
- at $6 each! I'd go back, but skip the alcohol :-)
-
- I'd *never* return to La Brasserie (about 2nd and Mass Ave, NE) --
- even with a discount coupon, we paid about $50 each (*sans* alcohol)
- and were ready to head over to Cafe Berlin (across the street) for a
- *real* meal -- the tiniest portions I've ever seen: entrees the size
- of most place's appetizers. Bleh!
-
- The restaurants I've been to in Paris were affordable, had excellent
- service, were *not* pretentious, and had portions you could live off.
- Of course the food was fine. From whence did this nonsense of American
- pseudo-French restaurants come?
