- I have just recently started using olwm. I have been using twm for a
- long time, but olwm is quite different. I have a question about how
- olwm sets up its fonts. I have been experimenting with how to start
- up olwm in a couple different ways. These two ways give me different
- results on the fonts that are loaded.
-
- Method 1: I changed the line in my .xinitrc file to read olwm instead
- of twm.
-
- Method 2a: I type "openwin" from the shell. (My .xinitrc does not
- invoke a window manager.)
-
- Method 2b: I type "openwin" from the shell. (In this case, my
- .xinitrc file is not present.)
-
- Now the confusing part. When using Method 1 or Method 2a, the fonts
- are loaded the same way, but the applications 'cm' (calendar manager)
- and 'xvtdl' (To Do List Manager) are not using the correct fonts, so
- often times when dialog windows open up the text does not properly fit
- into the buttons.
-
- When I use Method 2b, the correct fonts are used.
-
- Does anyone know what is happening here? I am trying to set up my
- environment with the minimum number of files so that I can start up
- any window manager I desire easily.
-
- Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
