-
- ODT is easier to use than UNIX even if you never use the X-windows
- stuff. There are significant improvements in the system
- administration procedures (netconfig comes to mind).
-
- :ODT is SCO UNIX, TCP, NFS, LM/X client, Dos Merge, and X. If you do not need
- :more than 2 or three pieces you should probably buy them separately.
-
- :Sounds like UNIX, TCP, and NFS is what you need. You still might want ODT as
- :the install will be easier, but it will cost a little more.
-
- SCO also has what they call the ``Network Bundle'' which includes
- UNIX, TCP/IP, and NFS which lists for $2,195 (tape media) which
- is $400 less than the ODT 2.0 server system. This doesn't have
- the PC-Interface server which you would probably want to allow PCs
- easy access to the UNIX host so this would bring the cost
- difference down about $250.
-
- There's currently an upgrade offer from SCO good 'til the end of
- December allowing SCO Xenix and UNIX owners to upgrade their
- unlimited user license products to ODT 2.0 server for something
- around $1,700 (it may be less if you have a support contract).
- This is significantly less expensive than the network bundle.
