  13. I am having problem with the two dec machines that we have.

  15.     DEC 5000/240:
  16.     
  17.     * The machine boots, and comes up with the login window, but I cannot
  18. type anything. In other words, I cannot login from the console. 
  19.     * The mouse works.
  20.     * There doesn`t seem any problem with the keyboard hardware as
  21. I can type when I am at the console prompt.
  22.     * On running the test from the console, the machine complains of
  23. having a faulty fpu.
  24.     * Also, at the left corner of the screen there is a window titled
  25. "Prompter Message"
  26.     * I can remotely log into the machine.

  28. The last line in the ttys file reads:
  29. :0 "/usr/bin/login -P /usr/bin/Xprompter -C /usr/bin/dxsession -e" none on secure window = "/usr/bin/Xwst3d bc -class Pseudocolor"

  32.     DEC 5000/120:

  34.     * Cannot login from the login window or remotely. 
  35.     * The machine boots, also I can type the login name, but it complians
  36. when trying to log in.
  37.     * When trying to login as a user on the console  the message that comes
  38. up is:
  39.         Error in quota call
  40.     * When trying to login as root on the console the message that comes 
  41. up is:
  42.         Unable to set gid to 1
  43.     * When trying to login as a user remotely the message that comes
  44. up is:
  45.         audcntl: Permission denied
  46.         audgen: Permission denied
  47.
