- Hi,
-
- I'm having heaps of fun trying to setup a DECLaser 3200 printer on a
- 5000/240 and are getting nowhere fast.
-
- - The laser is plugged into tty00 (comms port 2 on the back of the 240 unit) via
- serial cable.(straigth thru)
- - tty00 has logins turned off in /etc/ttys.
- - I ran the 'lprsetup' script (after RTFM). I chose the printer type as ln03
- (The box it came in had ln08 on the side of it, but ln08 is not known to the
- script)
- - The laser is set to factory defaults(One would assume it would work with
- another dec product on factory defaults)protocal is DEC.
- - tried good old 'lp -dln08 /etc/motd'
- - and nothing happens
-
- I got hold of a RS232 tester to see if a cross over was needed but everything
- seemed ok.
-
- When I enable tty00 for logins it works ok.
-
- I suspect that I have to setup the parity, flow control on tty00 for
- the printer. (YES/NO ?) If so where? .
-
- Any help would be appreciated.(eg: printcap entries that are known to work,
- where to look in the manual)
-
- Thanks
