  22. I laughed out loud when that issue arrived!  The article was 
  23. interesting and somewhat informative - but when someone with the 
  24. marketing acumen of Ray Noorda (of Novell) decides to throw in 
  25. with USL, and is now reportedly weighing the possibility of 
  26. buying controlling interest in USL, you realize how absurd that 
  27. question really is.

  29. If you consider the installed base of Unix users - not the 
  30. comparatively meaningless (in this context) DOS standard of # of 
  31. copies sold - and then factor some percentage of the installed 
  32. base of Novell users...  And even if some of the other versions 
  33. of Unix fall by the wayside, not all the other versions of Unix 
  34. are going away!  It will get bigger, obviously.  The role it 
  35. plays may change somewhat, but Unix is not dead, by any means.
