  11. I'm having trouble forcing a c-shell script to be executed in the
  12. background from my .login.  Just enterring
  13.     myprogram_name &
  14. in the .login creates a self-spawning process.  Is there anyway to
  15. get around this?  Also, can anyone explain to me why this occurs?

  17. On a related note, what's the easiest way to cause *any* shell script
  18. to execute another script in the background, and then terminate without
  19. waiting for its child process to exit?
