  16. Do you mean how they're implemented in the kernel, or how to implement
  17. programs that use them?  The latter is the subject of an entire chapter in
  18. W. Richard Stevens's new book "Advanced Programming in the UNIX
  19. Environment".

  25. It's called "pty", and it should be on most large FTP archives.  Check
  26. archie for specifics.
