- Depends on what 'nice' command you use :) BTW, an ordinary user can never
- increase the priority.

- As to the original problem, there are situations where even a nice doesn't
- help. F.e. if your background job competes for system resources other than
- CPU time like virtual memory and I/O bandwidth or if it uses some server
- process that isn't 'nice'd.
