- A couple of months spent trying to make a SCSI 3480 stream on a variety
- of Suns indicates to me that memory bandwidth in the Sun is going to be
- your limiting factor. It didn't appear to be able to keep a 3480 streaming,
- and the drive manufacturer suggested that the Sun file system was the
- bottleneck. It isn't the drives, because they do stream on a VAX 6000 series
- machine running VMS (via a BI bus to SCSI converter). I was using SparcStation1
- and SparcStation2 class machines, the Sparc10s or the 670 or 690 servers may
- be a different story (but I don't have either, nor the 3480 any more).
