- On a slightly different note, I tried to set up a minimal BSD partition
- on my 386SX-25 so I could use NFS for the rest. Try it some time. Yuck!
- The necessary files are scattered in several directories, so you just
- can't say "We'll delete this directory and NFS mount it from another
- system." I estimated the space requirements of a minimal system to be
- around 10 MB, which is much better than 45 MB (I have an 85 MB drive
- on this machine). Maybe I've been spoiled by (my opinion) better
- directory hierarchies.
-
- Something I'd like to point out about the install procedure. It lets
- me enter a partition size as low as 39 MB (or maybe it was 37), but
- the installation pukes if I use a partition size less than 45 MB. OK,
- I was bored this weekend, but I actually spent over 12 hours Saturday
- trying to determine the smallest partition size I could use. :-)
- When the installation instructions say 40 MB, they mean 40 MB for
- data. You have to add another 5 MB for swap. I don't remember how
- clearly that was pointed out in the instructions, but I figured I
- should mention it before somebody makes a mistake.
