- at the moment addition to these groups is manual.
- send mail to the group and hopefully someone will add you,
- or alternatively, add yourself to the indicated file
- (make sure it etains 666 permissions)
-
- new groups may be added by any user of ref (including guest)
- so I hope people will do so.
-
- if you cannot get yourself added to a group and you wish to
- participate in development realted to that group, send me mail at
- julian@ref.tfs.com and I will add you.
-
- Bill jolitz has told me that the following work needs to be done:
-
- 1/ he needs some people to validate the gcc2.3.1 suite by
- compiling the entire 386bsd distribution and noting what changes need
- to be made: (does gdb work?)
-
- (386bsd_gcc is probably the place to go to do this) I will try add another disk
- to ref specifically for this large task.
-
- 2/ he would like some people familiar with shared libraries, to get together
- and he will work with them (he is busy) towards implimenting shared
- libraries.
-
- Join 386bsd_sharedlibs for this.
-
- 3/ the new linux math package might be looked at by someone
- and maybe ported (if the author agrees)
-
- volunteers?
-
- ----------------------------------
- not to nag too much, but,
- the following people still don't have .forwards on ref.
- I may delete these directories if no-one comes forward to claim them..

- --------------------------------------
- Some people have suggested I place an IRC on ref rather than the planned
- (probably COOL) MUD. I am open to suggestions but a MUD may
- give more flexibility in terms
- of specialised 'meeting' facilities such as the ability
- to 'table' code fragments for discussion and such, also
- a mud needs only that the users have a telnet rather than a special client.
- (though one helps) This is still open.
-
- ---------------------------------------
- ref has a MTBF of about 36 hours at the moment
- (probably the heaviest used 386bsd machine around)
- so I will be booting it each 24 hours (preemptively)
- probably around 17:00 GMT (9AM PST?)
- until we find the memory leaks etc.
-
- Things I want to see include a good MAN system that can handle
- normal MAN docs not the CAT docs presently on 386bsd.
