  14. My maxtor 535 went south after about 60 days...
  15.  
  16. The replacement arrived yesterday. After going through the
  17. torturus reinstallation I noticed that the drive will not
  18. boot! (It is an external). What I had done in the past was
  19. to hold down the <cmd>-<opt>-<shift>-<del> key. This causes
  20. the internal drive to be skipped. After the "question mark"
  21. in a disk icon appears I release the keys. Two weeks ago this
  22. would allow the external drive to boot. Now the internal drive
  23. goes ahead and becomes the startup disk!

  25. I have tried (several times) reinstalling the Mac Software on
  26. the external disk, I have swapped/tried all possible permutations
  27. of the the APS and Apple drivers all to no avail. I have set the
  28. startup device to the external drive but this does not work either.

  30. I have tried dragging the system folder from the internal to the
  31. external, this did not do any good either.

  33. The external drive does mount OK and starting the A/UX Startup
  34. application DOES start A/UX!

  36. How can I get my external drive to boot?
