  21. According to my CE, blowing away the NVRAM is the *last* resort.  Too 
  22. many things depend on it, and though it can be a userful tool, make sure
  23. you have a current backup before you pull the battery!

  25. I recently tried to add an external (670M) drive.  Picked an unused address,
  26. (with system off) plugged it in, making sure to terminate the buss, and
  27. then powered up.  Got the alternating 223-229 forever.  Turns out that the
  28. drive had had its interface changed by the OEM packager, thus I was trying 
  29. to attach a differential interface to a SCSI-II buss.  No she workee.

  31. Any chance you are suffering similarly?  What happens when you view the
  32. disk thru SMIT STORAGE?  How about if you just do an 'lsdev -C|grep disk' ?
  33. Does aix recognize the disk, or did you have to use the 'other scsi disk'
  34. to configure it?
