- We just setup an RS/6000 AIX 3.2 for a development box (sigh without
- modems, modem lines or X.25 :-( ). So to connect it to the rest of the
- Wide-Area-Network I made a direct wire connection to my Xenix box.
-
- cu will allow me to get into the AIX from Xenix and uucp will login
- and run uucico, but once uucp is in it returns to login.
-
- If I login to AIX as root and run "/usr/lib/uucp/uucico" (no args) I would
- expect it to respond with:
-
- Shere=mtsdev
-
- and hang. This would be good because uucico is behaving as exected. However,
- it returns be to a login prompt. Thats strange because I would have expected
- to get my root prompt back.
-
- For testing I'm using "uucp" as the login with no password and the entry
- in /etc/passwd is "uucp::5:5:UUCP admin:/usr/lib/uucp:/usr/lib/uucp/uucico".
- I've also used:
- "UUmtsdp:!:5:5:mtsdp uucp login:/usr/spool/uucppublic:/usr/lib/uucp/uucico".
- Which is the one that will become active.
