- Vance Bass,
-
- Please arrange to come by our offices off hours to do full backups on
- our systems, full installs and setup from the new set of tapes you
- describe, and full recovery of the disks to their current state.
-
- After three sets of defective tapes it's a little hard for me to have
- much confidence that yet another set of tapes will be OK unless they
- are tested and proven. I don't need to find this out in a crunch and
- by surprise and go through another week of downtime trying to locate a
- working set of tapes. While you are here you can pick up the defective
- tapes and do what you like with them.
-
- The entire assumption of your note is that my time is far less
- valuable than that of IBM employees, and you can make your judgements
- discounting my time and trouble. I disagree entirely with this
- assessment, perhaps putting in a long weekend here (assuming all goes
- well, or possibly a week) will make the matter more understandable to
- you.
-
- At any rate, my phone number is in my signature for you to arrange the
- service I suggest, you may put up or shut up, as they say.
-
- Color me: Happy with my new big Solbourne server.
