- My clients have a requirement which can be addressed by using SNMP.
- This will involve registering a MIB sub-tree under "enterprise". My
- question is "how does one make AIX's snmpd aware of the new sub-tree"?
- According to the AIX docs, AIX's gated (which implements part of a MIB
- sub-tree) uses a protocol called SMUX to "register" its sub-tree with
- snmpd and to deal with requests concerning its variables.
-
- All I can find out about SMUX is that it uses TCP port 199. Can anyone
- point me to some documentation for the SMUX protocol?
-
- Giles.
