  13. My clients have a requirement which can be addressed by using SNMP. 
  14. This will involve registering a MIB sub-tree under "enterprise".  My
  15. question is "how does one make AIX's snmpd aware of the new sub-tree"? 
  16. According to the AIX docs, AIX's gated (which implements part of a MIB
  17. sub-tree) uses a protocol called SMUX to "register" its sub-tree with
  18. snmpd and to deal with requests concerning its variables.

  20. All I can find out about SMUX is that it uses TCP port 199.  Can anyone
  21. point me to some documentation for the SMUX protocol?
