  10. i had gotten into the habit of rolling the various and insundry PTF tapes to
  11. a common directory on a machine we had setup as an installation server. once
  12. done i'd then go the various RS/6000s and install all patches with commit,etc.
  13. my theory was that any PTFs that i had loaded previously would be overwritten
  14. and the installp would take care of the prerequisite strings. this worked fine
  15. until they started to recend PTFs. just recently we got a tape with a BUNCH
  16. of fixes for the 220 and GT1 (bloody thing just didn't work). in doing the
  17. enmass PTF apply, i ended up with a pile of garbage. reloading the machine and
  18. applying the PTFs from tape, one tape at a time, the machine works fine.
  19. how do others apply PTFs to a large population of machines??
