- I have an IBM RS/6000 m530 with AIX 3.2
-
- I have some problems setting up bidirectional modem communication.
- I have configured the ports as delay'ed. The problem is that the
- getty sets the permissions on the ports to 662 which prevents
- anyone from login in through the modem as the TSM complains it can't
- open the port.
-
- Reading the manual for getty gave some hints but nothing more.
- The most interesting part reads as follows:
-
- When the getty command is invoked, the following steps occur:
-
- 1. The port protection is set according to the owner and
- protection attribute in the ODM database. If these attributes
- are not specified, they default to root and 622.
- .
- .
-
-
- This is a bit strange. I have set the owner of the ports to uucp
- to get my uucp-connections to work and it is only changed if
- 'penable ttyxx'. Then it is owned by root. But if I pdelay it again
- the ownership is back to uucp.
- As you also can see the file-protection doesn't match either.
-
- My question is now:
- How do I change these values in the ODM
- (or is the manual lying?)
- Any other solutions to my problem?
-
- Any help appreciated.
