  11. I have an IBM RS/6000 m530 with AIX 3.2

  13. I have some problems setting up bidirectional modem communication.
  14. I have configured the ports as delay'ed. The problem is that the 
  15. getty sets the permissions on the ports to 662 which prevents
  16. anyone from login in through the modem as the TSM complains it can't
  17. open the port.

  19. Reading the manual for getty gave some hints but nothing more.
  20. The most interesting part reads as follows:

  22.     When the getty command is invoked, the following steps occur:

  24.     1.    The port protection is set according to the owner and
  25.     protection attribute in the ODM database. If these attributes
  26.     are not specified, they default to root and 622.

  31. This is a bit strange. I have set the owner of the ports to uucp
  32. to get my uucp-connections to work and it is only changed if 
  33. 'penable ttyxx'. Then it is owned by root. But if I pdelay it again
  34. the ownership is back to uucp.
  35. As you also can see the file-protection doesn't match either.
  36.  
  37. My question is now: 
  38. How do I change these values in the ODM
  39. (or is the manual lying?)
  40. Any other solutions to my problem?
