- Well, I can ftp into my system (I didn't have /etc/shells set up correctly
- for a new shell I'm using) and I can use DNS.
-
- Previously, I could resolve the names in my /etc/hosts table but could not
- get DNS working correctly.
-
- Now, I have DNS working but my Sun won't resolve names in my /etc/hosts
- file. It is important that I fix this because the name which is in my
- /etc/hosts file which is not on the NIS/DNS server that my machine queries
- is the name of my own machine! Hence, I'm having alot of problems.
-
- Is it possible to have my Sun read /etc/hosts AND use NIS/DNS?
- BTW, getting my host registered into the NIS server won't be an option
- for several months!
