  14. Well, I can ftp into my system (I didn't have /etc/shells set up correctly
  15. for a new shell I'm using) and I can use DNS.

  17. Previously, I could resolve the names in my /etc/hosts table but could not
  18. get DNS working correctly.

  20. Now, I have DNS working but my Sun won't resolve names in my /etc/hosts
  21. file.  It is important that I fix this because the name which is in my
  22. /etc/hosts file which is not on the NIS/DNS server that my machine queries
  23. is the name of my own machine!  Hence, I'm having alot of problems.

  25. Is it possible to have my Sun read /etc/hosts AND use NIS/DNS?
  26. BTW, getting my host registered into the NIS server won't be an option
  27. for several months!
