- I'm having a problem getting "tip" to work with a Hayes modem
- set up for dial-out use. Using "tip" on a "direct" line
- works fine (i.e. I enter "ATDT...."). However, when I
- configure the line as a modem line (at=hayes:du:pn=.....),
- tip says "dialing..." and later answers that the connection
- failed. I've tried this on many different phone nos on the
- same line, so I'm confident that this is not caused by a party-busy
- or party-doesn't-answer problem.
-
- * I get the connection failed message before 60 sec has
- elapsed, which the tip documentation says is the default
- dialup wait interval.
-
- * Does tip look for "CONNECT 9600" or for a carrier
- detect signal? How can I find out if my Unix system
- is receiving a CD signal (i.e. it's possible that the cable
- is bringing the CD signal to the wrong pin on the Unix
- system)
