- Well, we actually used to use the little blinking lights on top of
- the Cray-2 to troubleshoot system hangs. Since the mainframe was
- totally immersed in Flourinert and had a limited number of test-points
- for scoping signals, we could decode the LEDs to find out what the
- last issued instruction was prior to the hang. Several other
- control signals were also viewable this way.
